Taking Taikoo Hui’s 10th anniversary as an opportunity to reflect on the global issue of sustainable development, this event is a reflection of Taikoo Hui’s efforts in this area over the past decade. At the same time, it also encourages everyone to think sustainably and take action to build a better future together.
When it’s first unveiled, the Floating Garden is in fact an unfinished art installation, with only dozens of small pinwheels in place. The public will be invited to participate in filling up the garden with their own pinwheels – when they enter the garden, they can first write down their own vision of sustainability on an unfolded pinwheel, before folding it up and placing it on the Cloudy Hill. Through a collective community effort, this public art installation will gradually take shape.
Changing the world doesn't necessarily require grand plans and actions. “Savour the Moment: 1001 Wishes for 2030” encourages the public to start with small habits, such as using reusable bags, cycling to work, thoughtfully sorting garbage, and taking part in the Clean Plate campaign to help reduce food waste. All these simple everyday actions can create an overall positive impact on the environment around us, and the world. We hope that ten years from now, in 2030, everyone will be able to be a better version of themselves and embrace a brighter, better future.
